Providence River Animal Hospital is a state of the art, full-service animal hospital. Our goal is to provide your pet with optimal care in a compassionate and caring manner. General Wellness and MedicineBack to top
Communication with you, the pet owner, is PRAH’s most powerful strategy for keeping your pet healthy. Whether you have brought your pet to us for routine wellness and vaccines, or because your pet is sick, we will listen to your observations and concerns so that we can work together to maintain or return your pet to good health.
We always start with a complete physical exam where we check your pet thoroughly from nose to tail. We will then discuss recommendations with you based on the findings of the exam and your observations of your pet. Our goal is to keep your pet healthy and happy from puppy or kittenhood through its senior years.
Blood and Laboratory ServicesBack to top
Blood and other laboratory services are an important part of keeping your pet healthy. At PRAH, we recommend annual blood work and fecal analysis, since a physical exam cannot always reveal what is happening inside of your pet's body. PRAH has state of the art blood analyzers that allow us to have answers regarding your pet's health in as little as 3 minutes. This gives you and the doctor the ability to continue your conversation about your pet's health immediately.
RadiologyBack to top
This diagnostic tool is utilized to view images of the inside of your pet's body and may be necessary when a pet is sick and the cause is not immediately apparent. PRAH has a brand new digital x-ray machine that produces the best imagery available in veterinary medicine today.
DentistryBack to top
Good pet dental health is one of the cornerstones to longevity. Each physical exam includes a thorough evaluation of the teeth and mouth. PRAH staff will show you how to keep your pet's mouth clean and healthy. Should your pet require more intensive oral care due to dental disease, our state of the art dental equipment and highly trained team will return your pet's mouth to a healthy and pain free state.
SurgeryBack to top
When your pet needs surgery, whether routine or unexpected, we understand that this can be a difficult time for you and your pet. At PRAH, we take the utmost care to make sure your pet is comfortable and free of pain and anxiety from the moment you drop them off through their entire recovery process. Our skilled surgeons and intensive monitoring of your pet during their stay safeguard a successful outcome. We are always available to discuss any concerns you may have about the procedure or your pet’s post-operative care.
AnesthesiaBack to top
Anesthesia is used to provide a pain-free environment for your pet while they are undergoing surgery, dentistry or other medical procedures. To ensure your pet's safety while under anesthesia, your pet's EKG, respiration, heart rate, oxygen content, blood pressure, and temperature will be monitored. In most cases, your pet will also have an intravenous catheter to deliver fluids and medicine. Once your pet is awake, we will call you to review all aspects of the procedure.
PharmacyBack to top
PRAH has a fully stocked pharmacy that allows you to fill a prescription for your pet at the time of your visit. If your pet needs a medication that is not in stock at PRAH, we can order it for you. You can also use our on-line pharmacy service available to our clients through Petly.
